Chapli Kabab


Chapli kabab is a famous dish originating from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province of Pakistan. It's made from ground beef with variety of spices and fried in shape of a patty. In Peshawar city we find the most authentic chapli kabab served with yoghurt and naan or flat bread.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Kg Ground Beef
  • 2 Onions
  • 4 Tomatoes
  • 5 Green Chilies
  • Small Bunch Coriander Leaves
  • 100g Butter
  • 6 Tablespoons Besan (Gram Flour)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoon ground coriander seeds
  • 2 Tablespoon red chili powder or to taste
  • 2 Tablespoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 Tablespoon kabab masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required for shallow frying

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl place the ground beef, add gram flour and all the spices then mix well 
  2. Add finely chopped green chilies, 2 tomatoes, onions and coriander leaves to the beef mixture
  3. Now add 2 eggs and butter, mix the beef well with hands
  4. Take some beef in the palm of your hand to make a round burger patty
  5. Heat oil in pan on high heat, shallow fry the patties until golden brown
  6. Let them rest for 5 to 10 min on kitchen paper to drain out any excess oil
  7. Cut tomato slices, fry them lightly in the pan and place on top of the kababs


The tasty dish is ready to be served with yoghurt and naan. Enjoy!
