Chicken Tikka non barbecue recipe


Chicken Tikka is one of the most popular dish anywhere. Its typically cooked on coals with chicken pieces marinated with tikka masala beforehand. Tikka masala is a combination of spices traditional to Pakistan and south Asia.

Here we'll make Tikkas without bbq.

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 big pieces of whole Chicken (skinless)
  • 2 Cups Yogurt
  • 2 Teaspoon Ginger and garlic paste
  • 2 Teaspoon Salt 
  • 1.5 Teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
  • Water for making marinade
  • Oil as required to cook

Instructions:

  1. Make little cuts in chicken pieces
  2. Mix all the spices in a bowl and add some water to make a thick paste
  3. Apply the marinade paste to the chicken pieces thoroughly
  4. Let the meat rest for about 30 minutes so the flavor of spices is absorbed properly
  5. Put the chicken in a pot, add 1/2 cup water and leftover marinade (if any)
  6. Cover the pot and cook for 20 min on low heat
  7. Once done, take the chicken pieces out
  8. Heat a pan with 2 tablespoon oil and fry 2 chicken pieces at a time until golden brown
  9. Repeat for all chicken pieces
Tikkas are ready to be served with raita and naan
