Sponge Cake Recipe


Easy recipe to bake a sponge cake at home. This forms the basics of baking cakes, master this and you will be able to experiment further making chocolate cake, layered cakes, trying lots of types of icings and frostings.

It's very tasty cake as it is healthy. Enjoy with coffee or tea.

Lets make it.

Ingredients: 

6 eggs separate yolks and white

11/2 cup cake flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Directions:


1) Preheat oven

2) Get the separated egg yolks (at room temp),Vanilla extract and sugar whisked until fluffy 

3) Mix the flour (sifted), baking powder and salt in a bowl and place aside

4) Now beat the egg whites until foamy, add sugar 1/4 cup sugar and beat again

5) Combine all prepared ingredients in a bowl, mix them together very lightly

6) Pour the batter in the baking pan

7) Bake it for 25-35 min. Check in between by inserting toothpick until it comes out clean

8) Once it's baked take out and invert the pan on a flat surface for half hour or till completely cooled down

9) gently remove the cake by running knife or spatula along the outer rim of the pan

10) Top it with fluffy whipped cream or fine sugar

It's ready to be served.
